“July” - Youth Lagoon

I’ve been out of the blog game for a minute. And - don’t get it twisted - it’s not because I’ve been less interested in music. I guess part of it has to do with I’m not particularly good at writing about it. Listening is a visceral experience - hard to describe. But I can certainly tell you a song is “dope.” This lil nerdy BUILDS in a way that almost brings my ratchet a$$ to tears.

IM BACK BETCHEZZZZ

“Anthems of a 17 Year Old Girl” - Broken Social Scene (NanosauR remix)

Last night I saw Xxyyxx, Teebs, and NanosauR at one of my least favorite venues, mainly because the place makes me feel old and in desperate need of a shower. Last night was no exception — my trips to the bathroom were accompanied by watching 16 year olds blow massive amounts of Dina Lohan aka cocaine at my side. But the music killed, the bud lights were flowin, and the place was 4/20 friendly to the point that we were basically hotboxin the joint. NanosauR was just the opener, DJing on a laptop as I do every night in my bedroom, but he had some sick remixes. Plenty of Waka Flocka kept me happy, but when he pulled out the number one emo anthem of my angsty teenage days, I was truly feelin it. And then Xxyyxx remixed Juicy J’s Zip and a Double Cup, and the night’s success was affirmed. DNA Lounge, you will always occupy a strange but beloved place in my heart.

“Skyfall” - Adele

Tonight’s Oscar’s was all about the glitter dress. Needless to say, I loved every minute of it.

Michelle rocked the glitter.

And then Meryl walked out in glitter. Theme cemented.
